Never Forget Your 'Sisters'

A young wife sat on a sofa on a hot humid day, drinking iced tea and visiting with her mother. As they talked about life, about marriage, about the  responsibilities of life and the obligations of adulthood, the mother clinked the ice cubes in her glass thoughtfully and turned a clear, sober glance upon her daughter.

'Don't forget your sisters,' she advised, swirling the tea leaves to the bottom of her glass. 'They'll be more important as you get older. No matter how much you love your husband, no matter how much you love the children you may have, you are still going to need sisters. Remember to go places with them now and then; do things with them.'

'Remember that 'sisters' means ALL the women in your life...your girlfriends, your daughters, and all your women relatives too. 'You'll need other women. Women always do.'

What a funny piece of advice!' the young woman thought. Haven't I just gotten married? Haven't I just joined the couple-world? I'm now a married woman, for goodness sake! A grownup! Surely my husband and the family we may start will be all I need to make my life worthwhile!'

But she listened to her mother. She kept contact with her sisters and made more women friends each year. As the years tumbled by, one after another, she gradually came to understand that her mother really knew what she was talking about.

As time and nature work their changes and their mysteries upon a woman, sisters are the mainstays life.

Time passes
Life sometimes disappoints or let's you down
Distance separates
Children grow up
Jobs come and go
Money is tight or nonexistent
Love waxes and wanes
Men don't do what they're supposed to do  (and sometimes we don't either)
Hearts break (and can't be repaired)
Parents die
Colleagues forget favors
Careers end
And sometimes you cry till you're bone dry inside and then you cry some more
BUT.........

Sisters are there, no matter how much time and how many miles are between you
A girl friend is never farther away than needing her can reach

When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you have to walk it by yourself, the women in your life will be on the valley's rim, cheering you on, praying for you, pulling for you, intervening on your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the valley's end.

Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk beside you...Or come in and carry you out.

The world wouldn't be the same without sisters, and neither would I. When we began this adventure called womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or sorrows that lay ahead. Nor did we know how much we would need each other.

Every day, we need each other still.

Happy days!

This is From A Flight Attendant Regarding A Passenger Using An IPhone After the Aircraft Door Shut...

MY CUPPA Jo - Received this from a friend of mine today... I can so relate to this story!  As a retired airline employee, one of the many hats I wore during my career was that of a Flight Attendant. This is hilarious to say the least.

"Oh joy! I can't wait for the next ground delay or long taxi due to weather somewhere to get a smart ass with a freakin I-phone shoving it in my face saying 'It's NOT raining there... SEE !' Too late...already happened to me. We push back, get advised of a ground stop in MEM due to storms in the area. Go to the penalty box and wait. My Captain does the lecture over the PA... not one minute later, we get dinged from the Flight Attendant (F/A) 'Some guy with an IPhone says the weather is good, and wants to know what the real reason is for the delay.

Is something wrong with the plane?'

I want to tell this clown what he can do with his IdiotPhone - but the Captain does it even better. He gets on the PA and makes the following announcement :

'If the passenger with the IPhone would be kind enough to use it to check the weather at our alternate, calculate our fuel burn due to being rerouted around the storms, call the dispatcher to arrange our release, and then make a phone call to the nearest Air Traffic Control center to arrange our timely departure amongst the other aircraft carrying passengers with IPhones, then we will be more than happy to depart. Please ring your call button to advise the Flight Attendant and your fellow passengers when you deem it ready and responsible for this multi-million dollar aircraft and its 84 passengers to safely leave.'

Needless to say, the pax was pretty embarrassed. The F/A later told us the rest of the plane was outright laughing at this dude. What a clown ! "

THE 1st "Spiritual Cinema Feature" for 2010

Spiritual Cinema Circle

I've been a subscriber to Spiritual Cinema for some time now and would like to share with you what this months featured films will be about. I've been extremely pleased with my subscription and I think you will be too. These are movies that are definitely worth watching!

Imagine the following: You are a single, thirty-something professional…and you discover you have a very serious, life-threatening case of leukemia even though you are symptom-free. The next day you meet the love of your life at a nightclub and begin a relationship, knowing you haven’t long to live. At what point, do you think, are you obligated to share what’s going on with your health?

We posed this question to a few of our favorite spiritual luminaries:
"I don't have any judgment on someone doing otherwise, but I would personally feel an ethical responsibility to disclose that information sooner rather than later."
- Marianne Williamson

"Immediately. A good relationship and a real, loving relationship is based in truth and integrity."
- Deepak Chopra
